Hi, Ann! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.
My daughter is 12 and over Christmas we chose to do the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and I have to say I think she was at a perfect age for it. The show is really so entertaining for everyone but we've seen it in the past when she was younger and some of the jokes maybe went over her head a bit. This time though, she got every last one of them. I also think it depends on the child. My daughter enjoys musicals and that type of thing so even though she's verging on being a teenager she loved tapping her toe, clapping her hands and banging on a washboard with her spoon when it came time for that. Even if your kids didn't want to participate, I think they could appreciate the show anyway because it's really good. My daughter also loved the food! I mean who wouldn't like all-you-care-to-enjoy fried chicken, bbq ribs, corn, salad, baked beans and cornbread? She's also at a good age to give it right back to our server who ribbed her about not trying the baked beans and wouldn't bring her more corn until she gave them a try. Too much younger and she would have been too shy to interact with everyone in that way. Right now,
Walt Disney World is only offering two dinner shows -
Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show and the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Out of the two, Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue wins my family's vote every time. It's just fun and I think your kids would really enjoy it too!
I hope you do give Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue a try. It's a rootin' tootin' good time and I personally cannot wait to go back again. If you have any other questions, please come back and ask. I'd be happy to help.
