My son has Charcot Marie Tooth Syndrom and will be needing to use an ECV or wheelchair. Can he operate his own ECV at Disney if the is 13?

    Hi Kristin! Welcome to planDisney.

Oh My Gourd! You will be celebrating Halloween at The World's Most Magical Place on Earth. Keep an eye out for pumpkin spice delights throughout the theme parks and resorts. Over at Magic Kingdom Park, I enjoyed the Tombstone Tart from Golden Oak Outpost. It was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy.

You must be 18 years or older to rent and operate Electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs) from Disney World Resort. If renting onsite, a Wheelchair Rental may be your only option for a 13-year-old. If you are staying at the Disney Resorts Collection hotel, I recommend the Disney Featured Provider, Scooterbug for ECV rentals. This way your son is not restricted by age and is able to use his scooter on Disney Resort Transportation, resorts, theme parks, and Disney Springs. Bell Services will accept and return your Scooterbug rental without your presence.

I see you are from Florida. If you are driving in, you may want to rent from any of the many health supply providers in the area or bring your own. I suggest a quick Google search for a quick list. Finally, check out this information for Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities. You may call the number provided in the link to speak to Disabilities Guest Services.
