my son has cerebal palsy and we are staing at the dolhin hotel from 4th july - 18th july 2012, would we be able to get a gac card and what is the purpose of these cards.

The Guest Assistance Card (GAC) can be obtained by visiting Guest Services on your first day at a Walt Disney World theme park. Make sure you bring a doctor's note from home outlining your son's specific needs. The GAC will be good for the length of your stay. You can show your GAC to the Cast Member at every attraction to be led to a special queue (if there is one) and/or ensure that accommodations are available for your son. Walt Disney World does an amazing job at accommodating all of their guests, so make sure that if you need anything at all or need any special assistance, just ask a Cast Member. The main purpose and benefit to the GAC is to ensure that your son's special needs are met. For example, if he is in a wheelchair or stroller, you can ensure he is brought into a special queue for the attraction to ensure he is comfortable while he waits. The GAC doesn't necessarily mean shorter lines or no wait for attractions, but it does ensure he is comfortable while he waits.

You can also visit the First Aid sections that are available at each of the parks if you need to store any medical equipment or if you need to administer any treatment while you are there.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.
