Greetings, Stephanie, and welcome to planDisney! You've got a friend in me to help with this question – I have years of experience navigating the Disneyland Resort to find food that doesn't contain eggs and dairy. And my brother-in-law avoids gluten, so I have some ideas that may help you prepare for your trip!
First, Stephanie, Disneyland Resort table-service and quick-service restaurants will do their best to
accommodate allergy-friendly requests. However, it's important to note that, while steps are taken to prevent cross-contact, there are not separate kitchens, so it can't be guaranteed that a menu item is completely free of certain allergens. Guests are allowed to bring food into Disneyland Resort theme parks (as long as it doesn't require preparation or heating), so just know that is an option, too.
That said, here are a few options that come to mind when it comes to gluten-free food at the Disneyland Resort:
- Pizza: Gluten-friendly crust is available by request at locations such as Alien Pizza Planet and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. Café Daisy also has a pizza flop-over that I've heard good things about.
- Hamburgers: Gluten-friendly buns are available by request at locations such as Galactic Grill, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Flo's V8 Cafe, and Smokejumpers Grill.
- Mickey-shaped waffles: Allergy-friendly batter is available at locations such as Carnation Cafe and Plaza Inn.
- Grilled cheese sandwich: Jolly Holiday has gluten-free bread for a warm grilled cheese sandwich, and a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie for dessert.
There are more options, but that is a list to start! Keep in mind that menu selections are subject to change, so it's always best to check the menus as your trip approaches and speak with a Cast Member ahead of ordering. At
table-service restaurants, you can also request to speak with the chef and ask for an allergy-friendly menu. You can also use the
Disneyland mobile app to browse menus for the dining locations you are interested in. Usually, if you scroll to the bottom of the menu, you'll see a listing of gluten and wheat allergy-friendly items. You should be able to select the "allergy-friendly" button when making a mobile order.
Stephanie, I hope you and your family have an amazing visit to the Disneyland Resort. The
70th Anniversary Celebration just kicked off, and there is so much to do and see. The Paint the Night Parade and Wondrous Journeys may be my favorite nighttime spectaculars. And starting June 1, 2025,
Rex from “Toy Story” will be at Pixar Pier in California Adventure – I'm so excited about that!
As Chef Remy said, "If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff." Luckily, there’s no shortage of delicious dining options at the Disneyland Resort! I hope your trip is full of happy memories and lots of tasty food. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always glad to help here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Kriss
