My son will be celebrating his 5th birthday while we are there. I want to do a character dinner for his birthday, but I am unsure about what to do because I want his birthday to be very special.

Hi, Vickie!    I don't think you can go wrong with a birthday celebration at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort.    Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and their pals are there for a meal full of fun!   The characters come around for photos and autographs, at least once during your dining time music is played and everyone gets to celebrate their special occasion, there is a dessert bar fit for a prince (and the princesses out there, too!) and the cast members usually recognize the celebrants with a special sweet treat.   Birthday cakes can be brought to your table.  To purchase one, let them know when you are checking in at the podium.   (But there is plenty at the dessert bar without getting a cake!)

Going to Chef Mickey's to celebrate birthdays is a family tradition for us.   Every time we go, my kids are up out of their chairs dancing and having a super time!

Reservations for Chef Mickey's fill up very quickly, so make sure to make your Advance Dining Reservations at (407)WDW-DINE when you are 90 days out from your vacation.   Make sure that your son picks up his free HAPPY BIRTHDAY button at guest services in any of the parks.  Also, sign your son up HERE for a free park admission ticket from Mickey!   Have a magical birthday celebration!
