Hi Lesley!
So glad that you have a
Disney Magic at Sea voyage on the horizon. Celebrating a birthday on a Disney Cruise Line vacation is positively SEAsational! I love all the extra attention that the crew doles out to Guests celebrating birthdays, and that would include 40-year-olds, too.
This question takes the cake...literally! You can bring a lot of things on a Disney cruise, but any way you slice it, you cannot bring a homemade birthday cake onboard. Homemade food is a no-no and on the
prohibited items list. So if you do want your son to enjoy your birthday gesture, it will have to be either before or after your voyage. Hey, that allows you all to extend the fun beyond the cruise days!
Here’s the good news: you can pre-purchase a birthday cake or cupcake from
Onboard Gifts (at least seven days prior to sailing) which can be delivered to the dining room or directly to your son’s stateroom. Or surprise him with some stateroom decorations with the “Birthday Wishes Stateroom Decor” package (at least three days before departure) to enhance the celebration. It’s his 40th birthday after all, he deserves some spoiling!
Sweets are always in bountiful supply on a Disney cruise. Your
rotational dining team will be more than happy to bring him a complimentary dessert and sing him "Happy Birthday.” There's nothing quite like seeing a loved one's expression when your servers surround the table and sing their hearts out while delivering a scrumptious dessert illuminated by candles!
So hopefully this has assured you that there’s plenty of opportunities to surprise your son with sweet treats while onboard. Have a MAGICal time on your adventure at sea with Captain Mickey and your birthday boy!
Happy Sailing!
