chEARs Belinda!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so sorry to hEAR that your son broke his arm. One of my twins is “that kid” (he’s had stitches, concussions, poisoned himself, etc.!), so I completely empathize with having to make
medical accommodations while on vacation!
Please make sure to check with his doctor for the all-clear before you head to the Resort. Once you get that, there shouldn’t be many
rides (if any) that he is restricted on. You probably want to avoid rides where he could get his cast wet (unless it’s waterproof!), so protect his arm with a poncho or jacket on
Pirates of the Caribbean, and probably avoid
Grizzly River Run.
There are
a few attractions that have
health advisories (since they are a bit bumpy), and I suggest looking at YouTube videos of those to preview them. This way, he can decide if he feels comfortable riding them. So, unless his cast interferes with a safety restraint, it will be up to you to determine what he can and cannot ride! Above all, make sure he stays hydrated and gets plenty of downtime. Nothing like a swollen arm inside a cast while he is trying to enjoy his vacation! If you have any concerns,
First Aid Centers are staffed with excellent medical personnel. Stop by in either one of the Parks if he needs treatment, or you have any questions.
If you all are visiting soon, you are in for a treat! The
Haunted Mansion is celebrating its 50th anniversary! Between its extra-magical holiday decorations, and the
Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house (that took 13 days to complete, and has the equivalent of a grown man’s worth of sugar, icing, and frosting!), you are bound to have a spookily merry time!
I wish you the Happiest of Vacations ~ Dr. Rayna
