Hi Henry,
Welcome to planDisney, I'm always happy to assist a fellow Canuck. Thanks for stopping by with a question about your upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort, it's nearly time!
Your son must be looking forward to travelling to Batuu to build a light saber, it's a fantastic experience. Walking into
Star Wars Galaxy's Edge really feels like you've been transported to Batuu. Instead of having your son use your credit card, I recommend picking up a Disney Gift Card. Disney Gift Cards can be used for dining, merchandise, experiences and more. If you haven't already left Canada, you can stop by a major grocery or pharmacy retailer and pick up a Canadian Disney Gift Card. While the Gift Card will be purchased and hold Canadian funds, the currency conversion will occur at time of use using the exchange rate from the previous day's closing. I use Disney Gift Cards for the majority of purchases - it's a great way to budget, and there are no fees like I'd otherwise be charged if using a credit card.
You can manage your cards online at
DisneyGiftCard.com, where you can even nickname them to stay organized and keep track of your cards more easily. Just a heads-up: Canadian and U.S. Disney Gift Cards can’t be merged. You’ll see a “C” next to Canadian balances and “US” beside American ones.
I hope this information is useful as you finish up the last preparations for your trip. Wishing you a wonderful stay at the Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have any other questions, please let me know.
