Hi ya, Andrew!
Welcome to planDisney! It sounds like your Spider-Bot requires a little extra engineering, I'm sorry about that. I know how frustrating troubleshooting can be! We have a Spider-Bot at home as well, so I'll do my best to help you get yours up and running again.
Alright, let's put on our
Worldwide Engineering Brigade hats! Spider-Bots must be paired to their remote to work, so that's the first thing to check. Turn on the Spider-Bot first, then turn on the remote. You'll see some lights and hear some sounds when it pairs successfully! Did you know that your Spider-Bot has a sleep mode? Yeah, robots get tired! If your Spider-Bot isn't moved for 5 minutes, it will go into sleep mode to save your batteries. To exit sleep mode you'll need to turn the Spider-Bot off with the switch on the bottom, then turn it on again.
In fact, one of the most revered engineering traditions is turning something off and then turning it back on again to see if that helps get things back on track. I'm an engineer myself, so I know! For a Spider-Bot, I recommend turning off both the bot and the remote, then turning them back on (bot first, then remote) to see if that helps. Even if it hasn't been long enough to go into sleep mode, this power recycling is sometimes required for our Spider-Bot.
If your Spider-Bot still seems like it's not getting with the program, I recommend contacting the
Merchandise Guest Services department by phone. I'm sure they'll be able to get in touch with Peter Parker and offer you some additional advice.
You can also send in an email about a merchandise issue by using this form. The Disney Parks Blog shared the coolest video with some closeup shots of Spider-Man conducting some flight tests in his suit! I hope you were able to see one of his tests when you were visiting the parks recently. It's one of my favorite things to watch!
Andrew, my little girl was so inspired by your question that she's now running our Spider-Bot up and down the hall. I hope this information helps your son get his own Spider-Bot back on its (many) legs soon, and that he's inspired to invent something amazing of his own!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
