Hello, Edith. Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I would be honored to help you with some ideas to honor your son's memory and his love of Cars.
The first thing that came to mind is to bring along a photograph of your son to hold while you take some iconic
PhotoPass photos in Cars Land. There are usually PhotoPass photographers stationed at the entrance to Cars Land, along Route 66, and by the
Cozy Cone Motel where you can meet some of your favorite characters from the Cars movies.
Another thing you might want to do is hang out in Cars Land near dusk so you can enjoy the "sh-boom" moment when all the neon signs light up. It is such a beautiful sight to see and something really unique to Cars Land.
Finally, you might consider something along the lines of "paying it forward." You could purchase a small trinket or maybe a balloon that your son would have loved and ask another parent if you could give it as a gift to their child. Bringing joy to another child and family could be just the way to honor all the happy memories you had with your son. And I'm sure the child in receipt of the gift would treasure that magic moment forever.
I hope that your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth helps connect you with the memories of your son and brings many new special memories to cherish for years to come.
