Hi there, Anna! Thanks for stopping by planDisney!
I'm so grateful that you've entrusted us with your question, Anna, and I'd be happy to share some tips and provide some guidance to help your son have the most magical vacation possible!
Let's start with your original question. Your son will be able to wear noise-canceling headphones on most of the rides at the Disneyland Resort theme parks. After speaking with a Cast Member directly, she assured me that there are some rides that they may suggest
not wearing the headphones, like
The Incredicoaster, which goes upside down and poses a significant risk of losing the headphones during the rides. On the more traditional rides, like
"it's a small world" or
Toy Story Mania, wearing the headphones will be no issue at all!
Linda, my little one is quite sensitive to loud noises and we've brought noise-canceling headphones along with us to both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. While rides are very stimulating and can be loud, there are a few other places I thought to mention to have them handy. Nighttime Spectaculars can sometimes be loud, especially if you have a viewing spot near the action. We still bring headphones to these so that my little one doesn't have to cover his ears on his own. Oddly enough, toilet flushing tends to be triggering for my little guy, so if your son is the same, you may consider using Companion Restrooms or
Baby Care Centers for bathroom breaks.
Finally, I thought I'd share with you a few of the other
services offered for Guests with Autism. The Disneyland Resort is very proud to be welcoming and inclusive to all Guests, so there are many accommodations that may make your trip even smoother. In addition, this guide helps with some suggestions for how to prepare ahead of time! If you're a planner like me, these tips are invaluable!
Anna, I am so excited for your little Mouseketeer to experience The Happiest Place on Earth. Here's to wishing you all a magical vacation filled with core memories to last a lifetime!
Have a magical day,
Ashley
