Hi LaDonna ~
It is so exciting that you are in the process of obtaining a service dog for your son. I have seen a lot of good things happen with children with autism after getting their service dog.
Disney welcomes trained
service animals in most locations throughout the Disney Resort. Here are some things that you should know:
* Guests who use service animals must maintain control of their animals at all times.
* Service animals must be kept on a leash or harness.
* Cast Members are not permitted to take control of service animals.
* Guests with service animals should follow the same attraction entrance guidelines as Guests who use wheelchairs.
* There are some attractions that service animals are not permitted to ride (see the link above). At these locations, you should ask a Cast Member about your options available for that attraction. Rider Switch with someone in your family may be a good option.
* There are designated relief areas for service animals in the theme parks and resorts. They are marked on theme park Guide Maps. You are also welcome to ask a Cast Member.
* Remember that the pavement gets very hot especially in the summer. You may want to consider foot protection for his dog.
* Remember to keep his service dog hydrated and fed.
* If there is a time you do not want your son's service dog to accompany you to the parks,
Best Friends Pet Care provides day care and overnight accommodations.
If you do not have a service animal vest or it is too hot, I would bring documentation to indicate it is a service dog (just in case).
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
