Hiya, Lisa!
“
Adventure is out there!” And Disney California Adventure Park is just where you’ll find it. My son, who is also on the spectrum, loves that theme park. He happens to love the more thrilling attractions such as
Radiator Springs Racers and
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! But he also enjoys game-like attractions such as
Toy Story Midway Mania,
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, and the
Games of Pixar Pier. For open-ended exploration at a more relaxed pace in an environment with fewer stimuli, I recommend
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
Tony’s Tip: The Disneyland Resort offers a variety of resources and services for
Guests with cognitive disabilities. The
Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities is a terrific resource to study before your visit. The information about what to expect on page six and the planning strategies on page seven are especially helpful.
We enjoy the many amazing
dining options available at Disney California Adventure Park. If your little one prefers more familiar foods, there are bound to be options that match your tastes. I recommend considering the delicious burgers at
Flo’s V8 Cafe, including options that are wheat allergy-friendly. The Pacific Wharf area includes a variety of restaurants with delicious allergy-friendly options, including at
Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill and
Lucky Fortune Cookery. Table service restaurants in and nearby the park can also accommodate a variety of allergy-related needs. Simply ask the host for the allergy-friendly menu. My favorite table service restaurant in the park is
Lamplight Lounge. They have some incredibly fun mocktails your son might enjoy.
It’s been a pleasure sharing some of my recommendations for magical fun at Disney California Adventure Park. If you’d like to hear more, including from other
Disneyland Resort specialists on the planDisney Panel, I hope you’ll stop by again soon.
