My son is on the Autism spectrum and we planned on securing a special pass so that we would not have to wait in long lines. I recently heard that these passes for disabled families are no longer available? Please advise. Thank you

    Hi Danielle!

Disney is still committed to assisting Guests with all types of special needs including those with Cognitive Disabilities. In fact, they have put together A Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which you can find on the link shown above. This will give you a lot of things you can do before and during your trip to help it go as smooth as possible.

Disney now has a new system in place to assist Guests who are not able to wait in a regular stand-by queue. If your son is not able to wait in a regular queue, you should visit Guest Relations in the first theme park of your visit to request a Disability Access Service (DAS) Card. I'm limited in space but recently answered a question for a Guest with more details of how the DAS works that you may find helpful.  Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS posted on the Disney Website.

Here are a couple of other tips from experience. If your son has any comfort items, bring them if possible. If he has head phones or ear plugs to help keep the noise level down, bring them. If he become anxious, remember the things you do at home to calm him down as keeping it familiar sometimes helps (like singing). Remember to relax and breathe. Sometimes you may just have to take a break until he calms down and try it again later.

Please feel free to visit again with any other questions. We're hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
