Hi, my son is on the autism spectrum and too heavy and big for a stroller but he can’t walk far distances. Are we allowed to use a stroller wagon for him to accommodate his needs?

Hi there, Isobel! I'm so happy you came to planDisney with your question. What makes the Disneyland Resort so incredible is that the magic is accessible to all Mouseketeers. Memories made at the Happiest Place on Earth fill your heart and last a lifetime!

While technically stroller wagons are not permitted in the parks, I would recommend that you reach out to the team at DAS (Disability Access Service). The DAS program is specifically designed for Guests who are unable to tolerate waits in traditional queues. Eligible Guests can now pre-register virtually with a Cast Member via a live video chat. Not only will you be able to discuss your specific situation directly with a pixie-dusted Cast Member, but you will also be able to pre-book up to 2 one-hour return windows for select experiences during your park day. You can reach out to DAS for pre-registration as soon as 30 days ahead of your arrival, but no less than 2 days ahead and anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. PST. If you are unable to pre-register, you can also register in person at City Hall at Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce at Disney California Adventure Park, but you would be subject to same-day availability for the return windows. One thing to note is that the Guest requesting DAS must be present for the live chat.

Another great feature is that you can continue to make or change your DAS return times throughout the day easily in the Disneyland Mobile App. Once you are in the parks, you can make an additional selection for a one-hour return window on top of the two you made during your pre-registration. Once you have tapped into this day-of selection, you can make another one, and so on. Each DAS party can include up to 6 party members, including the DAS registrant who will need to be present to tap into those DAS return windows.

Isobel, I sure hope this was helpful in your planning! I know there is plenty of magic ahead for you and your son. You will be visiting during one of my favorite times of the year - Halloween Time! Be sure to check the Disneyland Mobile App for which characters will be out and about during your park day to see some favorites in their very cute costumes! If you're looking to enjoy the Halloween Screams fireworks, you may be interested in booking the new Plaza Inn Halloween Dining Package which includes access to a preferred viewing spot on select nights! This would allow you to not have to stake a spot out early and wait ... and of course, you'll have a fabulous view!

Reach out if you have any more questions about your planning! We are always here for you at planDisney!

    Magic awaits!
