My son has autism, will he qualify for Disability Access Services? If so, should we bring documentation of his diagnosis? We are guests of the hotel & are wondering if we can make those arrangements the night before we visit the park? Thanks!

Hi there, Tina! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I am so excited that you and your family will soon be visiting the Disneyland Resort! Disability Access Service is designed for those who can't tolerate waiting in traditional queues. You won't need to bring a diagnosis or any paper work from you doctor. Instead, you just need to discuss your situation with a Cast Member at City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park. They will assess your needs and explain what accommodations are available. These accommodations can only be made once you are in the parks, so they can't be done in advance.

However, there are some other things you can plan ahead of time that will make your visit easier. First, look over the Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities. Next, plan on getting to the parks as early as you can each day. Since you are staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, you have access to Extra Magic Hour every day of your stay. This early hour is absolutely amazing as you can get so much done with fewer crowds. You will also want to take advantage of the Disney FASTPASS Service whenever possible and research whether upgrading to Disney MaxPass is right for your family. Finally, plan to take some breaks from the parks in the middle of the day if you are worried your son might get overstimulated.

I hope this helps! Have a magnificent trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
