My 16 yo son has Asperger's, which leads to feeling overwhelmed by the evening. We're getting the DDP this time, and I've made several ADR's. If he decides, at the last minute, that he doesn't want to join, do I have to cancel/rebook or can I just modify?

    Hi Riki,

Thanks for the question! My oldest daughter has Asperger's and yet Disney is the one place I never worry about her having a tough time. Perhaps because she has been going at least once a year since she was four or somehow the pixie dust just keeps our trips magical.

You should be able to just adjust your dining reservation. I might have it noted on your reservations that you have a child with Asperger's because you could be charged a fee if you do not cancel with enough notice. I would reach out to the cast members who work on the team of Guests with Disabilities to get clarification on this. They can be reached at Disability.Services@DisneyParks.com or call (407) 560-2547.

Another tip might be to schedule a meal with a stricter cancellation policy such as the Hoop Dee Doo Revue during the time of the trip when your son might be less overwhelmed. For our family, this would be towards the beginning when we are well rested versus the end of the trip. Also, we keep to our schedule at home with wake up and bed times as well as meals to reduce the anxiety.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
