My son has an allergy to dairy. Are there alternate foods/beverages available for those of us with food allergies?

    Hi Deirdre,

As a mom to a kiddo with a milk allergy, I can definitely relate to your search for alternative foods at Walt Disney World. Lucky for us, there are so many snacks and meals that aren't focused around diary. We're also very lucky that Walt Disney World is one of the top vacation places to take any family member with special dietary restrictions. Chefs and Cast Members at restaurants and Quick-Service stations take pride in offering items that everyone can enjoy, whether you have a special diet or not.

One way that we make sure to have a great dining experience for our whole family is to annotate my daughter's food allergy when we make our dining reservations. This alerts the kitchen that our table may have some special requests when it comes to our meals, and they are always more than happy to provide something extra special for our little girl. Once we reach the restaurant for our reservation, I remind our server of her food allergy. Most of the time, our server ends up asking us about food allergies before we can even inform them, which I love. They will point out items on the menu that would fit within your son's special diet, or they'll have the Chef come out and talk with your son to see what he would like to have as his special meal.

When it comes to Quick-Service stations within the parks, feel free to ask Cast Members for recommendations of items that are diary free. They'll be ready to help you find something delicious that won't interfere with your son's diet.

If you'd like more information on how Walt Disney World works with Guests with dietary restrictions, check out their Special Dietary Requests page.

I hope this answered your question, Deirdre. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask us at any time.

    Have a fantastical Disney day!
