Hello! My son (age 9) and I will be visiting WDW for our very first time. We have tickets to Mickey's not so scary Halloween party and reservations for brunch with Mickey. Is there anything that we should definitely not miss that my son would just love?

    Michelle:

Your first trip to Disney will be magical for BOTH of you. I applaud you for doing a little research before you go because there is so much to do. Here are some things that my own sons would recommend you consider, and best of all, they're free:

    • Animal Kingdom: Check out Flights of Wonder if your son is an animal lover. Ride Expedition as late in the evening as you can to heighten the thrill and request the front car.
    • Epcot: Check out Club Cool in Future World and try as many sodas from around the world as you want. Under-appreciated Sum of All Thrills lets you design your own ride--but if your invention isn't crazy enough, let a castmember know and he/she will give you the coordinates for the fastest vehicle to try. Agent P's Adventure in the World Showcase will help him embrace the long touring.
    • Hollywood Studios: Google some hints on how to maximize your score on Toy Story Mania before you get there. If he's a Star Wars fan, arrive at the park early enough to score a time for Jedi Academy.
    • Magic Kingdom: Like Toy Story Mania, do some research on how to get a high score on Buzz Lightyear. Unlike TSM, you'll be able to ride it many times to improve your score. The scavenger hunt Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom allows you to be a hero. Find out more at the fire station.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
