Hi there, Bianca!
Welcome to planDisney! I'm happy to help with your question today. The Disneyland Resort is committed to ensuring the magic is accessible for all Guests, so let's take a look at some
offerings that are available to you and your family.
I believe you are enquiring about the
Disability Access Service (DAS). DAS is a program designed for Guests with a developmental disability that makes it challenging to wait in a traditional standby queue for an extended period of time. The program does not grant immediate access to attractions, but instead offers return times for eligible Guests so that they do not have to wait in the conventional line.
There are two ways to
inquire about DAS to see if your son may be eligible: 1) via
live video chat ahead of your visit or 2)
once you arrive on property with a Cast Member at the Accessibility Service Kiosk. We recommend connecting with a Cast Member ahead of time so you have all your plans set in advance of your visit. You can do this as soon as 30 days ahead of your park day by visiting the DAS
website and scrolling to the "Registration Process" section. Once you have read through the "Terms & Conditions", the button to "Request Live Chat" will activate. Live chat is available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM PST and the Guest requesting DAS must be present for the chat. You'll want to ensure you already have park tickets purchased and loaded into your Disneyland account ahead of time.
If the Guest is approved for DAS, you will be able to use the Disneyland Mobile App once you've scanned into the parks to select your attraction return times. Return times can be selected one at a time. Ten minutes after tapping into one return time, you can select the next. Return times will be reflective of current wait times, but this allows you to spend time in the park however you'd like in lieu of standing in the queue itself. If you have any questions, the Cast Member assisting during the Live Chat is a great resource!
For your father, there are a few services offered for those experiencing difficulty with
mobility.
Wheelchairs and EVCs are available for rent by the day on a first-come, first-serve basis from the Stroller Shop location in the Main Entrance Esplanade. If you're visiting for several days and looking for a length-of-stay rental, mobility devices from ScooterBug Rentals are highly recommended. Depending on the attraction, there are different ways Guests need to board various ride vehicles. My best tip here for planning out your day is to head into the Disneyland Mobile App and search for any attraction. Scroll down to the "Accessibility & Other Information" drop down menu to find information on how Guests board the attraction. Some will allow Guests to stay in their mobility device, some will require a transfer from an EVC to a wheelchair, others will require Guests to walk on their own to the ride vehicle or with assistance from their party.
Bianca, I sure hope this was helpful!
Magic awaits!
Tara
