Hi there, Brionna!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney. Just like your son, I also love receiving Disney Gift Cards for my birthday (or any time of the year)! They can be used at so many places, including
Disneyland Resort,
Walt Disney World Resort, and
Disney Cruise Line. I usually save my Disney Gift Cards until I reach a goal amount, and then combine them into one or two Disney Gift Cards. This can be done on the
Disney Gift Card website.
Disney Gift Cards can be used for most Disney Cruise Line purchases, including Port Adventures, Onboard Activities, merchandise, and photography. Disney Cruise Line mainly operates on a
cash-free system. During your cruise, all incidentals, purchases, and services will be charged to your stateroom folio (basically, your cruise account).
Disney Gift Cards can be used to purchase Onboard Credit ahead of time. This can be done by logging into your MyDisney Account on the
Disney Cruise Line website and selecting "Onboard Gifts" under "Already Booked" at the top of the homepage. Enter your reservation information and choose "Onboard Credit" under "Shop by Category." Add your Disney Gift Card number as the payment option.
Since you will most likely have other services and purchases applied to your folio during your cruise, you may want to wait to add the Disney Gift Card until you are onboard your ship. You can stop by Guest Services to have the Disney Gift Card applied to your folio, and you can ask them if they can apply the Disney Gift Card to specific purchases.
Have you downloaded the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app yet? It is such a helpful tool! I like to look at the entertainment schedule each morning of our cruise to plan our day. It also has
rotational dining information, restaurant menus, and more.
Onboard Chat is another great feature that allows Guests to send messages to friends and family on the ship with you, even if they are in different areas of the ship.
Brionna, thank you again for reaching out to planDisney. Have a wonderful vacation with your family!
Happy sailing!
Jen
