I’m so excited that you and your adult child will be vacationing at Walt Disney World, Nancy. A magical time is sure to be had by all!
I, too, am the mother of an adult child with what I like to call extraordinary needs. She has Down syndrome. Don’t let that fool you, though, into thinking she’s always sweet and subdued. No. My girl is as feisty as Tink! Without a doubt, Walt Disney World is her absolute favorite place to vacation. She gets pretty carried away with the fantasy of it all – almost as much as I do!
Of course, each individual will have his or her own preferences, but I can share some of my daughter’s favorite things at Disney and maybe they will inspire your must-do list. Is your adult child a foodie? If so, stop in at
Gaston’s Tavern for a frosty cup of LeFou’s Brew. My daughter won’t leave Magic Kingdom without enjoying at least one!
Over at Hollywood Studios,
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is such a fun new attraction. My daughter loves it because she has a heart for singing and the song in this attraction is super catchy. There is a lot going on, though, as far as colors and sounds and motion and so if you have any sensory concerns about over-stimulation, that one may be best saved for another time.
You mentioned a mini wedding. Is your grown child especially swept away by romance? If so, stop in at
Be Our Guest Restaurant. One of the rooms there – The Castle Gallery – features a larger-than-life music box with Belle and Beast dancing. Innocent romance is put on beautiful display right there in the center of the room.
As you tour the parks, Nancy, keep your eyes and ears alert because the
Character Cavalcades offer Guests a great opportunity to wave and say hi to some of Disney’s most popular pals. Maybe that would be perfect for your interests?
I’m wishing you both a magical trip, Nancy. Let us know if we can help further!
