Can someone wait in the ride lines and not ride the ride? One of my family members can not ride certain rides but does not want to be left alone.

Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!

In most cases, yes, you can have someone stand in the line with you right up until it is time to climb into a ride car at most attractions. There are a few exceptions, but Cast Members can confirm the availability at the start of any attraction queue.

On our Spring Break trip earlier this year, one of my daughters was recovering from a severe concussion. Don't let anyone tell you that show choir is not a contact sport! For many attractions she would wait in lines with us, only to then skip the actual ride. They had a convenient exit path at or near the boarding zones. She would then wait for us right at the exit point of the ride. So our time apart was minutes, not hours.

    WARNING #1
There are a few attractions where you cannot do this. So do check with the Cast Member as you enter. They get asked this ALL THE TIME! So they will know right away.

    WARNING #2
At attractions where you are using a Virtual Queue, Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane, or Individual Lightning Lane to gain access, that guest will need the same access as the rest of your party. Since some of these cost money, you may want to consider if it is worth it to do so in those individual cases. For our family, with the Virtual Queue and Genie+, we included them in the group request. For the Individual Lightning Lanes in the parks, my daughter and I opted out and did some essential Disney shopping instead!

Please feel free to write us back if you have any follow-up questions.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
