Someone told me that a child can get free admission on their birthday. I am a first time disney vacation planner and was wondering if this is true?

    Hi Lyndsey,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. How exciting to be planning your first Walt Disney World vacation!

In 2009, as a part of the "What Will You Celebrate?" campaign, guests did receive free admission to Walt Disney World or Disneyland; however, this has not been the case since 2009.

But do not worry! There is plenty of magic to have on a birthday at Walt Disney World. My first tip to guests celebrating a birthday at Walt Disney World is pick up a free "Happy Birthday" button. These are available at Guest Relations at all of the Disney theme parks, as well as at other locations throughout Walt Disney World. You never know when a little extra pixie dust might be sprinkled on the day of a guest wearing one of these buttons. I will never forget my daughter's huge eyes when our server at The Plaza Restaurant brought her a giant birthday cupcake upon seeing her birthday button. This kind of magic is not guaranteed; however, it is fun simply to hear other guests and cast members alike wishing your birthday child a happy birthday!

There are also many ways to celebrate with a customized cake at Walt Disney World. My husband loved the cake we got him one year for his birthday - complete with a delicious white chocolate Stitch on top! You can also work with Disney Floral and Gifts to have a customized gift made for the birthday celebrator.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Lyndsey. Please do let us know if you have any further questions!
