Can someone tell me what kind of high chairs I'll find at the restaurants in WDW? My LO will be 5 months and isn't quite sitting alone. Do they have a good restraint system, or do the babies need to sit independently?? Thanks so much!

Hi Jan! This is a great question for all those who will be traveling with a small infant. All of the Disney restaurants will have high chairs and they are basically the wooden kind that can be flipped over if you have a stroller with the removable infant seat that can then be set on that. Some restaurants now have infant type high chairs which are better for children who cannot yet sit on their own but this might  be a hit or miss situation and only a few are in each spot.

Five months is a tough age as they need the good restraints and yet are getting too big for infant type seats. The wooden ones are probably too large for a five month old to sit securely and we sometimes stuffed the extra jackets around our grandchildren to make it secure if they were too big for the infant seats. That isn't necessarily the best solution but we did what we had to do!  You cannot count on being able to take the stroller into a restaurant for many reasons. They can't allow to have anything that impedes the safety of the aisles and areas where guests must come and go and most restaurants are pretty packed with tables to begin with. When you arrive discuss your situation with the desk manager and see if there is a table where you could use the stroller. This can work unless you are planning to bring the semi of strollers and then it becomes just too large.

So when you arrive ask for the infant high chair and if they do not have that ask if you could then please take the stroller in so your child can sit with you at the table. Disney restaurants are used to children of all ages and they should do whatever it takes to make your dining experience magical even for the little five month old!
