    Can someone tell me where to cheer for my son running in the jan. 2012 marathon? what special events are going on for the marathoners? and just what to expect. we have never participated in this type of event

    Hi Cheryl.

    That's so great that your son is going to take on this incredible experience and you are going to be there to support him!

    Let me tell you about the special events first. Your son will have to go to the Disney's Health & Fitness Expo to pick up his race packet.  The Expo runs from Thursday, January 5, 2012 – Saturday, January 7, 2012
    at the HP Field House and Jostens Center at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

    But, this is way more then just checking in so make sure he gets there early to take it all in. The Expo will host seminars on training, racing, and nutrition featuring speakers and panelists from the world of running. While picking up his official race number and packet, you can both check out the newest Official Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Merchandise, as well as the latest in apparel and fitness equipment.

    Pasta in the Park Party, Disney Family Fun Run 5K, Disney Kids' Races are some of the other great things that are planned for the Marathon Weekend.

    Now, for the important answer...where you can be to cheer on your son!! The Marathon Spectator Tool is a great resource to figure out where you might have the best and most opportunities to cheer. Just go to http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/rundisney/spectator-tool to see what it advises based on your son's pace.

    Cheer loud and long for your son.  Having run marathons and half marathons at Disney World, I know how important it is to have that support!!
