Hello and welcome to planDisney, Joseph! Thanks for bringing us your question.
Both a valid
theme park ticket and reservation are required for entry to
Disneyland Park or
Disney California Adventure Park. Although you may not be riding any attractions, there are so many things to do at both parks. There have been several times I've visited and didn't ride an attraction. I spent my time wandering around and taking in the atmosphere (I could spend all day in
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge!),
meeting with characters and of course sampling all of the
tasty food and snacks. When it comes to meeting characters, I highly recommend
Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, especially if you're a Marvel fan. One of my favorite treats to indulge in is a Mickey-shaped beignet from the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square. Finally, plenty of
entertainment can also be found around the parks.
Fantasmic! is a must-see and my favorite nighttime show that takes place on the Rivers of America.
There are also many things to do outside the theme parks in the
Downtown Disney District, which does not require a theme park ticket. There are delicious places to eat, fabulous shopping and you may even find some entertainment on the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage. You can check the
entertainment schedule to see what's happening on the day of your visit. You can also visit Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill located at the Disneyland Hotel and enjoy a refreshing DOLE Whip. If there happen to be fireworks during your visit, you can also view them from the esplanade between the two parks.
I hope this has been helpful to you, Joseph. I hope you have a magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. Please come back and visit us at planDisney with any other questions you may have.
