Hi Nicole,
Thanks for trusting planDisney with your important Walt Disney World Resort trip-planning questions. Whether scurrying like a mouse on
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure or feeling the breaths of a winged mountain banshee on
Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, ride vehicles are an important part of an attraction's immersive storytelling. That is certainly the case with Magic Kingdom Park's newest attraction,
TRON Lightcycle / Run.
Everyone carries their weight differently and there is no formula that will determine whether or not you will be most comfortable entering the Grid on a traditional Lightcycle or the alternate Light Runner ride vehicle. I can share that my husband has a larger build and shared your concerns and desire to fit on a Lightcycle prior to our opening day visit. Before our Magic Kingdom Park day, he watched several videos that focused on the process of mounting a Lightcycle vehicle. Some of his takeaways were the importance of placing your feet all the way back before pulling the handles to lock in and the ability to practice getting on and off a test vehicle at the entrance to the attraction.
Before experiencing TRON Lightcycle / Run, my husband spent some time getting on and off the test vehicle, which is found by the Lighting Lane entrance to the attraction. He made friends with the Cast Member there and they high-fived after he successfully experienced the attraction on a Lightcycle. I encourage you to follow a similar routine on your park day, Nicole. Practice getting on the test Lightcycle vehicle multiple times, and don't be afraid to ask questions or for help. If a Lightcycle doesn't feel right on the test vehicle or in the actual attraction, listen to your body and ask to be seated in a Light Runner ride vehicle. There's no wrong way to enter the Grid, and I know you'll be glad you did.
TRON Lightcycle / Run can currently be experienced via a virtual queue or as an
Individual Lightning Lane purchase, though a standby queue may be in place by your visit next year. Be sure to take advantage of some of the really cool
Disney PhotoPass shots in the area, which especially pop at night.
Don't be a stranger, Nicole. Hope to see you real soon!
Plan magic; planDisney.
