Can someone explain to me a little about how line swapping works? I know my little guy will probably be hesitant to go on a few rides. Does the adult who stays back have to go on alone, or can another family member take the other person's place?

Hi, Claudia!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is only a little over a month away!  How exciting!  I bet you and your family are counting down the days until you are in the Most Magical Place on Earth.  There is so much happening this year at the Walt Disney World Resort.  I'm sure you will agree that now more than ever, it's a great time to visit!

The Walt Disney World theme parks offer the Rider Switch Service for families who have a child who either does not meet the height requirement or simply does not wish to experience an attraction.  If you wish to use the Rider Switch Service, your travel party should speak with a Cast Member at the attraction entrance.  The Cast Member will issue one adult a Rider Switch entitlement, and that adult will wait with the non-riding child or children.  The rest of the party will then enter the standby queue for that attraction.  Once they return from experiencing the attraction, an adult who just rode will take over supervising the non-riding child.  The adult who waited may then bring along up to two other guests with them, and they will be able to enter the attraction using the FastPass+ queue, thus eliminating the need to wait in line twice.

Although the Rider Switch Service was originally intended to avoid waiting in the standby queue twice, it may also be used along with FastPass+.  In that case, both riding parties would be able to bypass the standby queue.  Please keep in mind that if you do intend to use Rider Switch along with FastPass+, all guests who are riding need to have a valid FastPass+ for that attraction.
