Hiya, Kayla! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for sharing your delicious dining question.
We both know there’s nothing better than a Walt Disney World vacation, but planning a magical adventure to the Vacation Kingdom has to be a close second. And in my humble opinion, the best part of planning is choosing which
dining locations to enjoy. My family has a tradition that every person—even our 5-year-old—gets to choose one restaurant reservation. It’s a great way to involve the whole crew in the planning process.
Unfortunately, the Walt Disney World dining reservation system doesn’t allow you to transfer dining reservations to other guests. I chatted with a friendly Cast Member who told me that the primary contact (the guest who booked the reservation) needs to be present to check in for the dining reservation to be honored.
One way you can “give” your dining reservation to someone else is to coordinate with your friend or family member when you intend to cancel the reservation, and they can quickly book it. This method has mixed success because canceling a reservation opens it up to everyone, but if you have the
My Disney Experience mobile app open and ready to go, or are quick with the refresh button on your desktop, then it’s possible to grab the desired reservation as soon as it becomes available.
Remember, guests can book dining reservations
60 days in advance of their visit, and guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels can make dining reservations for their entire stay at the 60-day mark (up to 10 days). So be sure to create a reminder on your phone, set alarms, put sticky notes up around the house, whatever you need to do to now miss this important day.
I hope this info helps with your trip planning, Kayla. Pop right back if you have any other questions. You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney!
Magical travels!
Matt
