Magic Key pass. This answer may take some twists and turns, so keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle, and let's see where it leads us.
I called and chatted with a friendly and helpful Cast Member who shared some really great information. They shared that if the Magic Key pass is linked under the MyDisney account of the person who purchased the pass for you, then you should be able to purchase a Magic Key pass under your own MyDisney account without any challenges. However, if the pass is linked under your MyDisney account, you will have to first complete all payments for the initial pass before you will be able to purchase a new one. I recommend calling the
phone line for Magic Key Holders and chatting with a Cast Member who can access your account and tell you exactly which scenario applies to your account and what steps you'll need to take next.
Something else to keep in mind is that Magic Key sales are currently paused and only available for renewal. So while you may be able to settle your account, you sadly won't be able to purchase a new Magic Key pass at this time. We unfortunately don't know when sales might reopen.
