Hi, I am a solo traveler and I am also in a wheel chair, I will be getting it from walker's. I can walk a very short distance. My question is if I am traveling solo will I be able to ride fast pace rides or do I have to get out of my wheel chair.

Hi Penni! I applaud you for being a solo traveler but Walt Disney World is the perfect place to do this and they will certainly help you along the way. I suggest you stop at the park's Guest Service locations as you enter to get a Guest Assistance Card and review the attractions with them. Many will allow you to stay in your wheel chair but there are some where you would need to transfer. If you don't feel comfortable then you might need to skip that attraction on this visit. Disney cast members are not allowed to physically assist you from one to the other which is where a traveling companion would normally take over. Since you can walk a short distance you can ask the cast members to please slow the ride down so you can enter safely and slowly. This is done on many of them.  Ultimately the decision to try will be yours and that is why it is a good idea to go over everything with Guest Relations before you head into the parks.

If you can you can also find the great book, Passporter's Open Mouse For Walt Disney World by Deb Wills and Debra Martin Koma. This book goes over each attraction and the challenges they can create or not create for those with different handicaps. It is worth the read before heading to the parks.

But there are so many great things to see and do so if one or two attractions are not available to you you will still have a magical time and a great vacation.
