We have a small (Shitz Tzu) service dog. (12lbs) My husband needs her for detecting diabetes levels.) Will we be able to keep her in the park? My husband is renting a smoother so she can be kept in a basket.

Hiya Suzanne and welcome to planDisney!

Dogs are man's best friend and your husband's service dog is taking that to the next level. Just like Nana, the Darling Children's trusty nursemaid in Peter Pan, I'm sure she takes his care very seriously. The Walt Disney World Resort is welcome to magic makers of all kinds, including the 4 legged service animal kind. Your husband's service dog is allowed at lots of locations around the Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to bring your small health assistant's leash as they will need to be under control at all times. Take a good look at the list of locations that aren't safe for your helper. In those instances, you may need to take advantage of Rider Switch Service so one of you can keep her company while the other rides. Also, be aware that she isn't allowed to do any doggie paddling in the water on the property. But you can make up for it by buying her something fabulous. I've seen some really adorable dog spirit jerseys, bowls, toys, and other fabulous merchandise all over Walt Disney World. She can do her job and be dressed for success at the same time!

Suzanne, I hope you, your husband, and your very good girl have a magical stay!

    Good health and happy planning!
