Is a small dog allowed at the fort wilderness campground to stay in a cabin?

    Hi Lauren!

The Fort Wilderness Campground Resort is where I call home every fall for a couple of months. I love the atmosphere and peaceful aura that is around me. We have a motor coach but our family loves to come and join us and stay in one of the great Fort Wilderness Cabins.

The only way guests are able to bring along their trusted pets is by using an RV and staying in the campgrounds. The cabins do not allow pets of any kind unless they are certified service animals. If you cannot stay in the campgrounds with an RV then I can suggest using the nearby Best Friends Pet Care facility. This is a high quality facility located just five minutes from Fort Wilderness across from the Port Orleans Resort. You have several options of kennel types and they offer play groups daily as well. We have used it many, many times for our own dogs when we had to leave for weekends or cruises. The dogs loved going there and had the best care possible.

If you use a facility such as this reserve early as they will book up fast especially during holiday times. They will also do grooming if requested. Guests are more then welcome to come and check-out their dogs for play time in the back area where you will find water fun. It truly is a giant doggy playground facility for all types of dogs and cats

It is hard to leave a loved pet behind so this might be a perfect solution since you are staying in a cabin for this next vacation.
