Hi there, Dannielle!
Welcome to planDisney! I am so very sorry to hear that you're injured, I know how painful and frustrating that is...especially when you're preparing for a big race.
I'm so excited to see the return of runDisney events to the Disneyland Resort!
The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend does have some
runDisney Race Policies that it's good to be aware of. Sadly, the event policy is that registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, so your sister would not be able to run in your place. I'm sorry, I know that's not the answer you were hoping for. If you have more questions about your specific situation you can
contact runDisney through e-mail or over the phone. Your goal for the rest of the year should be to rest and heal so you can do the race yourself! I recommend talking with your doctor and figuring out a plan that might allow you to safely complete the race. The good news is, the
pace requirement for the Half Marathon and 10K races is 16 minutes per mile. Not too bad, right? Of course, let your conscience (and your doctor) be your guide, and always stay safe. You might not get as much training as you were planning on, but I'm crossing my fingers that your knee will heal and that you'll be able to go the distance!
For a little extra inspiration, did you see the
post on the Disney Parks Blog just today that revealed the medals for our race weekend? I'm running the half marathon that weekend myself, so I was really excited to see the beautiful medals today! I also really love listening to the
runDisney playlists, even if I'm not out for a run at that moment. They're always good for a boost of energy in your day!
Dannielle, I'm sending all the pixie dust and good vibes for your knee to heal up before you can say "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!" Think those happy thoughts and I hope to see you real soon!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
