I have a 7:00 sleigh ride scheduled for Dec.1 at FW campgrounds.I am now worried that this is to early to enjoy the christmas lights. What do you think? Will we still enjoy? Also, we will drive there. Can you give me direction on getting to sleigh ride. Thanks!

Hi Carlene!  Congratulations on getting a sleigh ride reservation for your December trip! It will be a nice and peaceful way to spend an evening at Fort Wilderness.

The 7:00pm time should work fine as far as the lights go.  It will be dark enough to allow you to enjoy any lights and decorations that will be on display.  Since it is early in the month there might not be a lot of actual site decorations but the carriage ride will show what is up and for viewing throughout the Fort Wilderness property.  In any case it is something different to do while at Disney and a great place for a visit and a nice ride.

You might consider getting reservations at Trails End which is the restaurant in this resort property.  It is a great buffet style location with some of the best barbecue and fried chicken on property. Of course we love the rice krispie treats and make your own sundaes for dessert!

If you are driving please get directions from your resort to the Fort property.  The guards at the gate will direct you to the parking and then you will walk the short distance to the bus area.  From there you will catch a "local" bus which will be clearly marked.  The buses will take you up to the front area near the marina and Pioneer Hall.  You will either catch the sleigh rides near the blacksmith shop or up near Pioneer Hall.  You can ask a cast member for directions once you arrive.

You can also reach Fort Wilderness by boat from the Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary resort, or the Magic Kingdom.  These boats run on a regular schedule and again bring you to the main area where the restaurant and sleigh rides are located.

    Have a great time!
