It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Diane!
I am such a huge fan of the
Disney Skyliner. Before it opened, I was really excited to see a brand new mode of transportation arrive at Walt Disney World Resort but it wasn't until I got to ride it for myself this fall that I saw what a revolutionary addition it was! I stayed at
Disney's Pop Century Resort a few weeks ago and being able to glide to
Epcot and
Disney's Hollywood Studios in about 15 minutes was so easy, convenient, and fun!
One of the realities of vacationing in Central Florida is that sometimes there can be some interesting weather. It's usually beautiful, sunny, and clear but we all know to expect a few minutes of rain each day or maybe some thunder and lightning. Safety is Disney's number one priority, so they certainly keep an eye on the weather to make sure that it is safe to operate the Disney Skyliner. I have seen the gondola system stop temporarily when there is lightning in the area, much like they would stop the
water transportation or certain attractions that have outdoor elements. The rain itself is not enough to slow it down, though, because I rode it while it was raining last week! There are vent flaps that open and close so you're fully protected from the elements inside your gondola if you happen to be riding in the rain. Rest assured that you will only be able to board the Disney Skyliner if it's safe to do so, and
alternative modes of transportation will be available if you need to change plans or disembark for any reason.
Have a magical day, Diane, and enjoy your flight!
