Are "skip the line" passes available?

    Nancy,

Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!

I assume that when you ask about the "skip the line" passes, you are talking about the old FastPass program? As it happens, back at the start of 2022 Disney replaced FastPass with a new suite of programs designed to match the different needs of different guests. These programs are essentially the replacement for the FastPass program.

But don't worry! You will still be able to get that convenient, shorter line experience you did in the days of old!

The new combined programs of Disney Genie, Genie+, and Individual Lightning Lanes are here to help! Only the second two parts of this trio of associated programs are involved in making ride reservations, but I will describe all three, just so you know how they all work together.

Disney Genie: The basic Disney Genie service is free, and it runs within the My Disney Experience App. It serves up a daily itinerary for you, including dining and attraction recommendations based on your preferences. The recommendations come with valuable information like wait times, and links to online food ordering.

Disney Genie+: If you pay to add the Disney Genie+ option, you can use the Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane entrances for a reduced wait time. You can choose the next available boarding time at any of the 40 attractions currently listed across the four parks. You book that next magical experience, and then get to enjoy some other activities in the park until your arrival time comes due. All guests, whether they are Disney Resort Hotel guests or not, can purchase the Genie+ program and book their first attraction at 7 am that same day.

Individual Lightning Lane: These are typically 1 or 2 of the more popular attractions at each of the given parks where you can pay for an arrival window time. The prices vary, based on demand, and this can help you lock in that "Must Do!" experience that was at the top of your bucket list. You can purchase these, even if you are not using Disney Genie+. If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel you can make an Individual Lightning Lane purchase starting at 7 am the day of your visit, while other guests can start ordering when the park opens.

    QUICK REVIEW
So, there are two ways to get into the faster lightning lanes. One way, Genie+, works much like the old FastPass, but all through your phone, and for a flat daily rate. The second, Individual Lightning Lanes, also work through your phone, but are for just a few select rides, and are on a per-ride basis.

    BONUS TIP #1
These Lightning Lanes do not mean that you can only ride an attraction if you have Genie+ or an Individual Lightning Lane reservation. There are still traditional lines at all attractions.

    BONUS TIP #2
If you visit the web page for Genie+, you can see what attractions are in the Genie+ Lightning Lane and Individual Lightning Lane programs, so you can plan out your days. These can change over time, so be sure to check.

    BONUS TIP #3
Make sure you have the My Disney Experience App on your smart phone before you arrive. The Disney Genie service is great at giving you ideas on what to do next, and I love ordering lunch without waiting in line with the Mobile Online Ordering service.

Please feel free to write me back directly if you have any follow-up questions.
