Ahoy, Robert!
Welcome aboard planDisney! I love that you’re planning ahead to make sure your sailing
aboard the Disney Dream is smooth seas from the moment you arrive at the cruise terminal. Let’s get that carry-on packed and ready to roll!
When choosing your carry-on luggage, it’s best to think along the same lines as you would when flying. Once you arrive at the cruise terminal and begin the check-in process, everything you carry aboard will need to fit through the security screener. To make sure your bag can make the journey with you, your carry-on luggage should not exceed 22 inches tall, 14 inches wide, and 9 inches deep.
As you decide what to check with the porters and what to carry aboard yourself, I’d also think about how much you actually want to haul around on embarkation day. Your stateroom may not be ready when you first step aboard. The timing can vary, but staterooms are generally available around 1:30 PM, so an early
Port Arrival Time could mean exploring the ship with your carry-on as your trusty sidekick for a little while. I love getting onboard early, but I’d much rather be grabbing some lunch and starting my vacation than feeling like Carl Fredricksen trying to move his entire house around the ship!
That said, there are definitely a few things I always recommend keeping with you instead of handing them over with your checked luggage. Travel documents, medications, valuables, sunscreen, and maybe even a swimsuit are worth finding some room for since your checked bags may not arrive at your stateroom until later in the day.
Pack those essentials wisely, and then let the porters handle the rest of the heavy lifting!
I hope this helps you find the right carry-on and keeps you from hauling more luggage around the Dream than you need to on embarkation day. Keep the essentials close, hand off the heavy stuff, and save your energy for exploring the ship instead!
Sea ya real soon with boo-tiful nights and frightfully fun days,
Dustin
