Well ahoy there Scott, and welcome to planDisney!
Now when I lived at sea as an officer on board I was among the "chipmunk-sized" variety which definitely came in handy when living within the crew quarters down below. While some might euphemistically call crew cabins cozy, we definitely did our best to make the most of the limited space in our bunks. (You'll be happy to hear that in guest staterooms with upper berths, the experience is significantly airier and less cramped by comparison!)
In fact, I had a look into the specifications available to Disney Cruise Line Cast Members and confirmed that "the length of the bedding in all staterooms is approximately 72" (6 ft.)". In addition, at the present time, bed extensions are unavailable. You might be interested to know that due to
the unique way that cruise ships are constructed in pre-fabricated "blocks" that are inserted into the superstructure like a massive puzzle, many of the in-room furnishings that are
designed for Disney Cruise Line remain absolutely consistent with very little variation across the fleet.
I once had a roommate who was very good friends with Goofy and while they seemed to have no trouble with the overall length, it's the head clearance that you might want to watch out for if you want to try sitting up in bed! They did let me know that in their experience you just need to be extra mindful of low-hanging signage in corridors or areas where entryways may dip down slightly - especially on certain ships like the
Disney Magic or the
Disney Wonder. The most difficulty they experienced was usually when taking a shower, so some folks on the taller side have found it worthwhile to take advantage of the extra room when showering at
the Senses Spa!
The wonderful world of Disney is full of folks of all sizes and life onboard tends to be just as accommodating for all of our talls and smalls alike. Just be mindful that some experiences
may have upper limits on their height requirements; it may also be useful to note that in certain
Port Destinations that require the use of a tender, it's always good to be aware of the shorter ceilings as you descend down and board these boats! Come back to planDisney again any time Scott,
we're always happy to provide you with a bit of nautical knowledge ahead of your next voyage!
Wishing you sweet dreams and smooth sailing on the high seas!
