Hi ho, Debbie!
Some day, we'll find "The Rainbow Connection." In the meantime, we may need to resort to being wirelessly connected. Although your Disney Cruise Line vacation will be an excellent time to disconnect and enjoy a reprieve from the everyday hustle and bustle, I do understand the importance of keeping in touch with people back home while at sea with Captain Minnie Mouse on the Disney Treasure.
There are three wireless connectivity services aboard your Disney Cruise Line ship that I would like to share with you:
- Disney Cruise Line Navigator Mobile Application
- Wi-Fi Internet Service
- Cellular at Sea
The Disney Cruise Line Navigator App is a free download for iOS and Android devices. You can download the app now to view an exciting countdown to your upcoming cruise. The magic of the app really shines once you are onboard your Disney cruise. The Navigator app is your portal to your ship's entertainment schedule, dining menus, onboard chat service, and more. To access all that the Navigator app has to offer, simply set your mobile device to airplane mode and connect to the DCL-GUEST Wi-Fi. The app works without purchasing an Internet access package.
To reach the Internet from a Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device or computer, you may purchase wireless Internet access. After you have boarded your cruise, Internet connectivity can be purchased one day at a time or for the length of your cruise. There are two levels of connectivity. The base Internet Package lets you access most online services, including many social media sites, news, email, audio and video phone calls and meetings, and more. With the Internet + Streaming Package, you get the same great service as the Internet Package plus access to streaming services, such as Disney+ and YouTube. Tap "Connect to Internet" in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to purchase an Internet package. If you purchase a package for connecting up to one device at a time, you may still use different devices by disconnecting from one device before connecting with a different device.
Some Guests find they need classic cell phone service while on their Disney cruise, including making voice calls, text messaging, and cellular data. Cellular at Sea offers these services while your ship is at sea. AT&T and Verizon subscribers may contact their provider before their vacation to sign up for a cruise plan. Most Guests who subscribe to cell service from other providers may connect to Cellular at Sea as a roaming service. Cellular at Sea charges are billed directly by the cell service provider. When using Cellular at Sea, my phone operates as it does when I'm on land.
I hope that helps, Debbie. If you have any more questions, we'd be happy to help you plan. If your cruise leaves soon, be sure to include your sail date on the question form so we know to expedite a response for you.
Happy sailing, Debbie!
