Hi Andrew,
Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I also really enjoy meeting and speaking with other Disney Vacation Club members while I am at Walt Disney World. It is interesting to hear stories from other members about their journeys and experiences with Disney Vacation Club.
I have found that a great way to identify yourself as a Disney Vacation Club member and to start conversations is by wearing Disney Vacation Club merchandise, such as a hat or shirt. Many times other members will comment on the these items and start a conversation, or people who are interested in joining ask me about it. I have often had the experience of someone asking me about Disney Vacation Club, and I cannot figure out how they know that I am a member. Then I remember that I am wearing a Disney Vacation Club hat!
Also while you are on vacation, consider attending Welcome Home Wednesdays. This jovial gathering of Disney Vacation Club members occurs most Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. at Atlantic Dance Hall on Disney's BoardWalk. There are games and refreshments, and a chance to meet other Disney Vacation Club Members. More information can be found by logging on to the
Disney Vacation Club member website, choosing the tab for "Membership Magic," and then selecting "Member Experiences."
If you are looking to connect with other Disney Vacation Club members before traveling, there are many unofficial websites which host discussion forums. Disboards.com has many forums dedicated to Disney Vacation Club. Both DVCnews.com and mouseowners.com are unofficial websites dedicated to Disney Vacation Club and each have discussion forums as well.
I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Andrew. Have a great time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
