Some of the sit down meals have sides with the main course my husband will not eat Can he substitute from other main courses

Hello, Daphne, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you are in the planning and prepping mode with scheduling your dining reservations. Which dining locations are you looking to enjoy during your visit? My family and I try to enjoy something new and different each visit. Most recently, we found ourselves at Coral Reef, which I will add was initially out of my comfort zone.

I always associated Coral Reef with seafood, but was pleasantly surprised to find options that weren’t just seafood. So everyone in my family was satisfied with their meals! My husband finally enjoyed a seafood plate, and the kids and I were content with our non-fishy items. It was so good and such a beautiful experience, with the coral reef (tank) just a few feet away. It was dinner and a show for our little ones. They loved pointing and calling out the different fish they saw. In the end, we all agreed and said we’d dine there again.

When it comes to substitutions, I recommend speaking with your server before you order. They are extremely knowledgeable with their menu, and I’ve found that substitutions will vary depending on the dining location. Something my husband and I often do is swap on our own. We usually pick two different entrees and share or swap what we don’t want or what we want to taste. I will admit, I usually end up stealing his potato side, and he will take my veggies. My husband jokes that I can be pickier than our kids, which is why I always have to at least "taste it". However, Disney continues to surprise me with items I normally don’t find myself interested in. I've expanded my palette slightly, but just enough to taste and give the remaining to him. Which I'm sure he secretly enjoys.

My husband’s favorite part of a Disney vacation is dining and trying new things because of his curiosity, we usually book with a Dining Plan. The dining plans are a great way to try new things and be open to enjoying different options throughout the theme parks. We usually go with the Disney Dining Plan so that we can try table-service locations we normally wouldn’t. Hence how we ended up at Coral Reef! It’s bold, but fun.

Daphne, I hope this helps answer your question. If there’s anything else we can help with, please come back to visit. Or if you’re looking for a particular food option, ask away. We will happily help you find exactly what you’re craving!

    Enjoy!
