Hi there Hailey and welcome to planDisney!
When it comes to deciding where you're going to tie the knot, there's really nothing like getting married at the Most Magical Place on Earth - but the big question is, how does your sister
pick from the vast variety of venues available? As a Disney Groom who recently planned
my own wedding at Walt Disney World Resort this year featured by Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, I'm happy to help DisBrides with my own experiences throughout the planning process as they start dreaming of their big day!
When I began the wedding planning process, tours of the
various venues found across the Theme Parks and Disney Resort Hotels were not available; at the current time however there are new and exciting opportunities to
attend an Open House here at Walt Disney World Resort where you'll be able to meet with Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings team and explore a few select venues. If you're planning on making a trip down to Orlando together, be sure to
take a look at the upcoming dates over the next few months and I highly recommend that your sister brings whatever will help inspire her to envision what her big day can look like at each location.
In my experience, my husband and I had the opportunity to attend an Open House and walk through
Disney's Wedding Pavilion listening to the sounds of its talented organist playing "
When You Wish Upon a Star" as we gazed out at Cinderella Castle through the central window before we decided that it was the perfect spot for us. Certain
venues that are within the Theme Parks actually house some attractions and can be experienced on your own (with valid admission) while you go about your day and try to envision what they would look like in a wedding setting, while we were able to view
various ballrooms and dining locations at the Disney Resort Hotels by politely asking the Cast Members whether we could take a peek! There's just so much more that you can see with a full 360-degree look at the spaces that you simply cannot get from a picture from a single angle.
A few things that really helped us decide on venues included accessibility and the amount of light we'd have at the time of day we wanted, so it's important for your sister to remember that most Theme Park venues are only available very early in the morning or late at night outside of day guest park opening hours. I also found it very useful to do my research through the stories and pictures of real celebrations on the
Ever After Blog and Disney Wedding Podcast, as well as following
Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and planning groups on social media to connect with other couples and be inspired by their photos. In the meantime, don't hesitate to
come back again to planDisney if either of you are in need of any more wedding planning tips or tricks ahead of the big day!
Wishing you all the best on the quest to find the perfect spot to tie the knot!
