My sister and I will be traveling to WDW in May with our children (ages 13, 9, 4, & 2). We have the dining plan and have made reservations for our meals. Will we have to pay the 18% gratuity ? We will be dining together

    Hi Angie,

You are correct in that the gratuity is not included in the cost of the Disney Dining Plan.  It is the custom of table service restaurants at Walt Disney World to add an 18% gratuity automatically to the checks of parties six or larger in number.  Smaller parties need to calculate and add the gratuity themselves (although a suggested gratuity is sometimes noted at the bottom of the receipt).  If, however, you feel the service you receive at a restaurant does not merit an 18% gratuity, please feel free to call upon the restaurant manager to make note of your disappointment and he or she will decrease or eliminate the automatic gratuity as per your instructions.  The cast members at Walt Disney World are anxious to see that you receive service that would be appropriately rewarded with an 18% gratuity.

I hope this information is helpful.  Have a lovely Walt Disney World vacation in May!
