Hi! My sister and I are running our very first half marathon and Run Disney race at the Princess Half 2013. As we start to plan our trip, when is it realistic to visit the parks? I assume the day of we'll need to recover. Day after? Probably not before?

Hi Kacey!  Congratulations to you and your sister.  The Princess Half is the perfect first half marathon!  I have a feeling you will both love it!

I have actually done "all of the above" park visits.  It really depends on what works best for your schedule.  My ideal plan is to recover the day of the run and hit the parks the day after.  Sure, I am a little sore, but the walking around is a great way to loosen up my muscles.

If I go to the parks on days before the race, I am always a little nervous about walking too much or eating the wrong things before the race.  Going on race day is OK, but I usually don't last a long time and end up dragging myself back to my room!

I think you would be fine going any of those times, just know that your park experiences will be a little different depending on your choice.  My recommendation would be to go the day after!

Please let me know if I can help you as you get ready for the race!
