My sister in law and I are taking my niece to Disney in early June. Our last trip was in a Jan/Feb time period so the lines were short and my niece still got impatient waiting. Any suggestions on how to entertain a 7 year old in line?

    Hi Staci,

As a mom of 4 kids myself I can relate to your need to find activities that will entertain your niece while you wait in line for an attraction. With a little bit of creativity you can use this time to have fun and make some vacation memories with your family. Listed below are my family's favorite things to do in line:

    • Hidden Mickeys hunting:  I always pack my copy of Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets. Not only is this book useful for finding Hidden Mickeys but you will soon discover that hidden magic is located throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. This is my family's top activity to participate in while waiting in line.
    • Snack time:  This is a great time to have a snack and a drink to refresh your little one. I always carry pre-packaged snacks and bottled water in my backpack for these times.
    • Play a trivia game:  You can make up your own game, download an app, or carry a small trivia card deck with you.
    • Electronic time:  If your niece has a handheld electronic this is a great time to let her play with it. Alternatively you can download some kid-friendly games onto your smart phone or device for her. There are some great Disney Mobile Apps and games that are sometimes free. My family's favorite mobile phone app is called "Head's Up". We like playing the deck entitled "Just for Kids" because it is great for young kids and often has Disney movies and characters in its clues.

Some of my family's favorite memories are of playing games while waiting in line and quite often other families near us join in the fun. I hope this helps you find some fun activities to do with your niece on your next vacation!

    Blessings,
    Brenda ºOº
