My sister in law and I will be doing the Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon this year. This is our first long distance race. Any suggestions or tips for the night before/ day of. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi David!  Great choice with the Wine and Dine!  It is my absolute favorite Disney race!  One unique thing about it is that it is a nighttime race.  Because of this, I do recommend that during your training you do at least one or more of your long runs at night.  You may also want to take notes of what you eat during that day so you will know whether to skip something or not.  That was my biggest concern with the Wine and Dine last year.  I made sure to avoid foods that would upset my stomach.  Really, it is a good idea to do that for a few days before your race.  I also recommend taking a nap on race day!  The race will begin around 10 p.m., and you definitely want to have some energy left to go to the after-party at Epcot!  Then you can eat all those foods that you had to avoid before!  Another thing to be careful about is trying new things.  When you pick up your packet with your bib and t-shirt, Disney has an awesome health and fitness expo with tons of great race gear vendors.  There will be new things everywhere: socks, shoes, energy gels, clothing items, protein bars, etc.  Go ahead and buy all that you want, but DON'T try anything on race day that you haven't already tested!  I learned this one the hard way.  Now, I buy what I want, but then wait and test it once I get back home.  Check out Disney's official trainer, Jeff Galloway's, website at www.jeffgalloway.com.  He has great tips about training plans, nutrition and ways to avoid injury.  Please let me know if I can help you plan in any other way!  See you there!
