Sister has an insulin pump. If it fails she needs to get her RX filled for syringes and insulin. Staying at Boardwalk, are we able to get the prescription to a pharmacy from the hotel? Also it will be from an out of state MD.does that matter. Thanks

    Hi Dolly,

A member of my family also uses an insulin pump and we find the best plan is to be prepared before you leave for any contingency. Most pump manufacturers will ship you a second pump to take on vacation in case of a mechanical failure while you are away from home. Once your trip is over, you can return the loaner by mail. Also consider advising you sister to pack syringes and insulin in your luggage so you won't have to scramble for supplies during your vacation and your sister won't have to deal with high blood sugar waiting for her medicine. My family has had prescriptions delivered to our Walt Disney World resort by a local pharmacy, but only for standard antibiotics. Syringes can be tricky to obtain, so your sister should bring her own along with a stash of insulin. If you still think you might need to obtain a prescription across state lines, your sister should check with her doctor and pharmacist before she leaves to see if and how this can be done.
