Hi there, Skylar! Welcome to
planDisney, and thank you so much for reaching out with this question. I'm really glad you asked before your trip, because military tickets are wonderful but they do come with very specific activation rules.
For the
discounted Disney Military Salute tickets, the eligible service member or their spouse does need to be present in person to activate the tickets. This activation must happen at a theme park ticket window on the very first day the tickets are used. At that time, a valid military ID is required, but the eligible service member or spouse doesn't have to enter the park with the rest of the group once the tickets have been activated.
I know this can sometimes be confusing, especially since tickets are often purchased on base ahead of time, but
Walt Disney World requires this to ensure the tickets are being used according to the eligibility guidelines tied to the Military Salute program.
Once the tickets are activated on that first day, you're all set. The service member or spouse does not need to be present for the remainder of the ticket usage, and the rest of your park days can be enjoyed as planned. It’s really just that initial activation that requires their presence.
Skylar, I hope this helps you coordinate your plans with confidence. These tickets are such a generous benefit, and once that first step is taken care of, you'll be free to focus on enjoying every magical moment of your visit. If you have any other questions as you prepare, I'm always happy to help.
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
